A collection of mostly obscure tracks between the years of 1959 to 1969 with an emphasis on the middle of the decade and many in the style of Phil Spector's 'Wall Of Sound'. A good share of East Coast rarities are featured as well as singles from Europe. Soul, Pop, Teen, Country/Pop, Jazz, Vocals and Easy Listening sounds are all showcased and are continually being added to the mix. An occasional LP track may be presented, but it's the 45 r.p.m. record in it's second decade of manufacture that I am celebrating. Here I pay homage to the talented vocalists, musicians, producers, arrangers, sound engineers, record label designers and photographers who left their legacy for new generations of lovers of obscure music to discover, embrace and enjoy.
Recorded in April 1964 at Hollywood's Gold Star Studios, 'Have I Lost My Touch' is the flip to the Spectorian, 'Tell Me In The Sunlight'. Both tunes were written and produced by then twenty-one year old, Scott Engel and schoolmate, John Stewart. Engel and Stewart recorded a disc in 1963 also on the Martay label as the Dalton Brothers entitled, 'I Only Came To Dance With You'. By 1965, Engel would be known as Scott Walker and achieve fame as one of the Walker Brothers along with John Maus (Walker) and Gary Leeds (Walker).
Recorded in January 1963 in studio 'A' at Hollywood's Gold Star Studios, another of the tasty productions by former Teddy Bears group member and Phil Spector associate, Marshall Leib. With vocals by uncredited session singers and a backing track laid down by L.A's 'Wrecking Crew' reminiscent of 'Zip-A-De-Doo-Dah' by Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans which was also recorded at Gold Star in October of 1962.

A écouter les chœurs, si ce n'est pas un retour dans ces sixties fantasmées.. et la chanson de Crenshaw elle même on dirait un inédit des années 60 retrouvé dans un vieux coffre au fin fond d'une cave.
